From Builder’s Labourer to Designer

Welcome to Haden Kose Architecture. As an experienced architectural designer in Warkworth, I have a lifelong fascination for construction and bespoke residential design. In fact, my journey began right here in my father’s Warkworth office. I spent many afternoons sketching on his drafting boards after school. Additionally, I gained practical, hands-on experience working as a builder’s labourer. This early exposure provides me with a unique “site-first” perspective on architectural design.

Later, in 2002, I earned my National Diploma in Architectural Technology from Unitec. Following this, I worked alongside my father at BK Design for over two decades. During that time, I honed my skills in high-performance residential architecture and modern coastal home design across the Rodney district.

Global Experience and Local Expertise

My career also includes significant international experience. For example, I took a sabbatical in Ireland to contribute to a boutique architecture firm. A major career highlight was a complex heritage conversion where I helped transform a 400-year-old church into a highly functional performing arts space. Consequently, this project taught me the delicate balance between modern innovation and preserving structural history—a skill I regularly use today.
